If you feel compilation time is a disadvantage, why compile at all? switch to python.
Most users will complain because their language is not as fast as another at runtime. But you need to realize you are potentially saving development time by using Kotlin and balance that out against compilation and runtime penalties. Fortran has been known to be faster than C, and for simple runs, sometimes using interpreted languages can lead to an answer in a fraction of the time compared to strongly-typed, compiled languages.
