A few weeks ago Gyorgy wrote that Google "currently creates the formatted version if the client writes only the structured flavor, but not in the other way", which is as it should be.
But then last week it looked like something had changed: when a user created a new contact in the Google Contact web UI (and therefore provided only a "formatted" version) both the formatted *and* the structured fields were filled in. This filled us with dismay, since the parser being used seemed to be pretty rudimentary. But I just checked again, and the behavior is back to the original. Am I going nuts, or are you guys monkeying around with this stuff behind the scenes? Changes like these have important implications for how third-party applications like ours work, so it would be much appreciated if you could give us a little more visibility into the changes you're making.
