It created some confusion for me when I searched in the new group, found entries (thinking they were in the new group) and couldn't post replies to them.
It is because the search includes the old groups in addition to the new group. It appears that all the old (some even important issues) from the old group are not getting attention (see here http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/apps-apis/thread?tid=7fb07a5c9891c567&hl=en as an example) which makes it useful to know when something is in the new group. Looking a little more closely, it seems that searching for the new group only returns items from the old group: For example, go here: http://code.google.com/apis/contacts/community/forum.html and try searching for python or coordinates...
