Hi Simon, I thin there is a setting for the reply mode in Google groups so this basically depends on your google groups configuration which admins have access to.
Also this is no the right group to post to, this is for Contact API issues (programming issues) so I might not be the most knowledgeable about this, please try to find a more appropriate forum.
