Business Architects provide expertise in all stages of the full enterprise
Business Process Management (BPM) / Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
processes. Architects are analytical experts in applying the “BPM” modeling
process in complex, enterprise business requirements and architectures.
Business Architects transform business problems into actionable business
requirements that can be implemented within the enterprise.

*Skill/experience requirements*

Project Role:
·        Capture current state business processes and/or define the future
state business processes within the architecture to rapidly solve business
problems.
·        Capture business processes through the use of business function,
process, flow and data models.
·        Create process-to-data linkages between the business models.
·        Facilitate requirements gathering workshops.
·        Lead requirements definition for a project and/or program to
deliver formal Business Requirements and process documentation.
·        Ensure enterprise-level cohesion of business processes.
·        Collaborate with other project architects to ensure “as-is”
business models are updated to reflect the “to-be” business requirements
for a project.
·        Ensure business models are effectively used to define project
scope.
·        Maintain both current and future states models for the project.
·        Provide requirements traceability and support to Test Strategy &
Plan development.

Enterprise Role:
·        Collaborate with the Business to initiate and foster relationships
with business process managers to understand their business requirements,
develop a common view of their business strategies, priorities, and scope.
·        Contribute to the development and implementation of the future
enterprise business architecture, including standards, guidelines and
compliance.
·        Collaborate with Enterprise-level Architects.
·        Advise/support Sr. Management of business case conflicts.
·        Assist in resolution of cross-project scope and functionality
conflicts.
·        Identify appropriate business architecture components to support
the business strategy and business process roadmap.
·        Facilitate the transfer of knowledge between business processes
managers and Business Architecture resources.
·        Manage/support enterprise model repository to ensure all models
are maintained/current.

Suggested Experience Level:
·        12 to 15 years (or more) of experience in Business analysis,
business process management, implementing business processes, designing
medium to large-sized information systems projects, gathering business
requirements for information systems, analyzing requirements to develop
business architecture, or solving business problems with information
systems.

Education:
·        A bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Industrial Management,
Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, or related
discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from
which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.

Business Architecture (BPM)

§        Strong analytical, process and project management.
§        Significant experience developing requirements and determining the
best business solution.
§        Ability to support business in the development of the business
case.
§        Extensive experience in designing and building business systems.
§        In-depth technology knowledge/experience with Business Process
Management (BPM); formal use of business and data modeling techniques and
tools.
§        Strong working knowledge of UML; use Case design and models.
§        Experience in defining future state business processes within the
architecture to rapidly solve business problems.

Communication

§        Excellent communication capabilities at all levels of an
organization.
§        Strong facilitation skills to extract process definitions and
behaviors from process owners.
§        Ability to negotiate with and influence business and technical
teams to ensure accurate representation of business architecture is
translated to system architecture.
§        Ability to effectively communicate complex business and technical
problems/solutions to various stakeholders to varying levels of management
and staff.
§        Ability to think strategically and communicate and create buy-in
to a broad vision with multiple stakeholders.

Project Management / SDLC

§        Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and
general IT controls.
§        Ability to assist application managers and architects to manage
the solution planning throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Problem Solving

§        Strong problem solving with the ability to make educated,
experienced-based, critical judgments.

Team Oriented

§        Ability to participate in cross-competency teams in an effective
and productive way.

General

§        Experience on an Enterprise-scale.
§        Strong people and organizational transformation/change management
skills.
§        Strong leadership.
