Hi, 1. When you update a gadget it is recommended to update also you version number. (Change in the gadget.manifest file) 2. Replace the old gadget on you server with the new update gadget.
Google scans periodically all gadgets and update when there is a new version of it. => updates all the information inside the gadget.manifest file (both screenshot image, version, gadget name,...). Note: The name of the file and the URL must be completely the same. Later you will see you gadget on the updates section of the 'Add Gadget dialog'. Example with my 'Power Off' gadget. I have updated my gadget and place the update version (v1.1 -> 1.2) online, and within 2 weeks my gadget is update on the Google Gadget page.
