Hi,

If you see follow text inside the about dialog from the "Date Display"
gadget:
"Copyright © 2007 - Paulo Santos"
=> This mean the code is writing by him and may not use for other
gadget.

But if you see this then (example in my gadgets):
"This software is licensed under the CC-GNU GPL. To view a copy of
this license, visit http://creativecommons.org/licenses/GPL/2.0/.";
=> Here it mean you can use the code and image(s). But you must
conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy distributed an
appropriate copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty...
(more information see website license)

You can still fix this problem by changing the name author of you
gadget again to the "Paulo Santos". See here how it must be:
<!--
MODULE   : STRINGS.XML
AUTHOR   : Paulo Santos
CREATION : 2009.OCT.31

DESCRIPTION : EN - ENGLISH

2009 OCT 31
        I (Prathamesh R Kudtarkar) use this code and add only new
skin's inside it.

Change History
0.1     2007.AUG.01
        Paulo Santos
        Initial Version
 -->
<strings>
But inside the "gadget.gmanifest" the author must be you name.

How to choose a other skins inside a gadget?
See the "Wifi Selector" example gadget, inside the Google Desktop API
folder:
C:\GD_SDK_20080518\api\samples\gadgets\demos\WifiSelector
