Hi There,

I recently started a new job which has a very draconian approach to
internet browsing. Specifically gmail is blocked and its very
frustrating.

Moral issues aside I have recently discovered that I can use a Gmail
Gadget via Google Desktop to access Gmail without issue. Seemingly
things accessed via Google Desktop bypass the proxy that my web
browsers are susceptible to.

Currently I've had to add a --proxy-server argument to Chrome to
enable me to use it instead of IE7. However, this proxy points to the
network proxy that blocks a whole bunch of sites.

Is there some way to point Chrome to the network connection used by
Google Desktop? There's plenty of information online about a Google
Desktop Proxy but this seems more about accessing Google Desktop on my
computer, from other computers. Not quite what I was after.

Apologies that this isn't really a dev question specifically however I
couldn't find a more appropriate forum for my query. Also I realise
should just deal with the corporate rules of my new job but I'm not
like that :P

Thanks for any assistance.
