I recently updated my Tree Frog iGoogle gadget which is in the Google Desktop directory so that it uses the gadgets.* API. After the update, it worked fine on iGoogle, but didn't work at all on Google Desktop. Because of this, I returned to using the legacy code so that the gadget will continue to work both on iGoogle and Google Desktop.
Gadgets that are using the legacy API are going to be removed from iGoogle in mid September. So I'm going to have to start using the newer code before then.
