Les, You will need a hosting provider that lets you install the Zend Framework and modify your php.ini file. A good amount of companies will let you do that, but you do need some form of shell access to the server. Alternatively, other hosting providers will not give you shell access but let you modify and install mySQL databases. Rewriting the code to use a database instead of Google Spreadsheets will not be that easy for someone that is just getting started with PHP. So the best option in my opinion would be to find a hosting provider that lets you have shell access so that you can follow the tutorial.
