There is an enhancement request posted to Google to add this feature

. I created it a while ago, but I think we may need a lot more people
to 'star' it before it will be worked on by Google :-). If you know
others interested in this feature, could you please star it yourself,
and also ask them to do it?
I don't think people realize that this is not yet implemented by
Google, and it would help inmensely those using the Google apis.
