We've substantially changed our gadget, including the addition of many new features, a change of content type from url to html and more, so much so that we'd like to update the title and description in the directory for it. We could re-publish this as a new gadget however we think the existing users would all welcome the change given the newer gadget is an enhanced version of the current one.
We're looking for advice (hopefully from a Google employee) on making such substantial adjustments to an existing gadget. In particular we're wondering: 1. what the likely time to propagate in the directory may be (if the changes propagate at all); 2. whether there are any penalties in the directory for making broad- reaching changes; and 3. whether there may be a period where the directory listing doesn’t accurately reflect the style/content of the gadget – potentially leading to confusion.
