I'd like to segment my users in analytics using some User Defined Values. I believe the function __utmSetVar() is used for this purpose. However, I'm not sure this is reliable because it uses cookies to store state.
What are some possible solutions for segmenting users based on custom data? I'm considering sticking the data into the urls I trigger and then using regular expression includes filters to separate the segments into profiles. Then I can compare data across profiles.
