Hi there,

I just had a look in the iGoogle gadget directory, but I was no longer
able to find the Desktop Gadget listed there, so it looks like Google
is no longer promoting the Desktop Gadgets to the iGoogle users. I
also tried to key in the URL of a .gg gadget on the "My Gadgets"
developer tool and iGoogle came back saying the .gg was not a properly
formatted file.

It looks like to me that iGoogle stopper supporting the Desktop
Gadget... even though I do not remember seeing any warning about that.

As you probably know, the rendering of Desktop Gadgets on iGoogle was
done by the Google Desktop application on your local machine. This
means that you had to have the Google Desktop installed in order to
use the .gg gadget on iGoogle. This is a severe limitation if you want
your gadget to be available to the iGoogle user base.

Dan or a Googler can probably comment if the support for Desktop
Gadget on iGoogle has been dropped, or if this is only because of a
current issue.
