Hi Patrick, May I suggest you first contact the original gadget author and ask for their permission first to copy and clone their intellectual property.
Then at least give the original author the option to create a version of their gadget for you. If not you may find a DMCA report on you for it. Since many of my gadgets have been cloned with out my permission I can say that I would not be very happy about it. Just a thought of courtesy.
