I think that's a key point: "with no notice." I'm well aware that Google has notified *developers* about inline gadgets being deprecated, but there's been no notification to users. Since they disallowed changes to inline gadgets, we can't even inform our own users in any meaningful way. And yes, that stinks. My inline gadget still appears to be above the threshold with 30k-40k pageviews/day, but I know it's only a matter of time until I too have a shedload of disgruntled users. And like many others, there's no possible way to "rewrite it using published APIs", as Google suggests. :^( It's not enough to make me abandon iGoogle, but it's a bad move by the big G.
