I fixed my problem. My gadget is registered at "http://lerman.biz/
GoogleGadgets/BoneheadGadget.xml" but my server was set up to change
the lerman.biz domain specification to www.lerman.biz. So whilst the
Google server went to "http://lerman.biz/GoogleGadgets/
BoneheadGadget.xml" it found itself at a mismatching location "http://
www.lerman.biz/GoogleGadgets/BoneheadGadget.xml" and so it apparently
refused to play.

This thought occurred to me when I searched the messages for others
with a similar problem and came across someone who said it appeared
that the Google proxy server was having difficulty with his URL even
though he could type it into a web browser and it worked. So I
wondered what was it about my URL it wouldn't like and I thought it
was worth a try to tell the server to leave the URL alone. Instantly
resolved the problem.
