As updates to both issues: 1. Persistent caching of gadget XML (at least outside of the sandbox) should be disabled, and the caches should not persist longer than 2 hours. If you are having an error please copy the iframe URL of the gadget into this thread so I can investigate.
2. The directory update mechanism is crawling (no pun intended) along more slowly than usual, but it is still running. All gadgets submitted before April 26th should now be in the directory. The next update will be all gadgets submitted before May 4th, and should appear around May 13th.
