I am also very interested in the sort of thing you are describing. I have an AppEngine app which uses Google Accounts. One would think that it would be possible to have to user log into AppEngine from iGoogle, but the guy from the AppEngine group says that every separate application requires a separate login.
I'm not sure if this applies to the offical GData services too. 10 out of 10 for the error message, by the way.
