Unfortunately, the only clarification you're likely to get on this is
if you pay an intellectual-property lawyer for it. Google employees
certainly don't give advice on the blumf posted by their legal
department.

In general, I would say that your gadget source is necessarily world-
readable, and there's nothing to stop anyone from creating derivative
works.
