Hi Dan, Chris, thanks for getting back to me, that solves the issue
with the gravatar and I've contacted the webmasters for
smashingmagazine.

Can you give me more information about the igoogle chat function? The
Talk gadget communicating with Google throughout the day even when you
are not chatting. This is what I assumed had happened, the company is
saying where they see a url that reads:

http://talkgadget.google.com/.../msg is when I have sent or received a
message. Can someone confirm whether this is correct? (I'm sure it
isn't as I never used the chat gadget at work)

And also when they see:

http://talkgadget.google.com/.../bind it's where myself or someone
else is typing a message to me. Again, I know I haven't been typing a
message can someone please confirm what this message is?

Again, thanks for your help and words!
Mark
