The OP's issue is addressed in the issue tracker at

642: Google Gadget Editor not saving or opening files). The issue
with GGE has been resolved.

For gadgets on Google Desktop, you can try the Google Desktop Developer
group at http://groups.google.com/group/google-desktop-developer or the
issue tracker for Google Desktop at
http://code.google.com/p/google-desktop-sdk/issues/list .
