Hi Mark,
This seems to be a new problem, it appears that the xml preamble is
corrupted. Basically the space between "xml" and "version" is removed when
the Gadget Editor saves the file. Please file an issue in the tracker
http://code.google.com/p/opensocial-resources/wiki/IssuesTab?tm=3 and I'll
forward it along.

In the mean time, the best way to develop your gadget will be to host it
somewhere else (either on your own server or free hosting like
code.google.com)
