As far as I can tell this has the same root cause as this issue that's been reported for gadget developer profile pages at http://code.google.com/p/igoogle-legacy/issues/detail?id=645 . Unfortunately there's nothing you can do to maintain your author page at this time.
I'll post updates in the issue queue when I have them, you can star the issue to get updates by email if you'd like.
