I too am having a problem with URL-type gadgets no longer being able
to read preferences.  As others have noted above, the problem is with
the introduction of a hash in the query string (in the form
#gadgetid=...).  Everything after the hash is not passed to the
server, which means all the up_ values can't be read by the script on
the server.

Is Google working on a fix?
