It sounds like we're going to get more of these going forward. Basically, if you don't have control over the gadget source any more then I can manually confirm that you have control of the email address named as the author in the gadget source. At present this is the only method we have for dealing with this. So fill in an invalid secret on the alias form and the email address used in the gadget spec, you'll get a failure message within a week or so. Reply to the failure message and we can go from there. I'm looking at ways to automate this process.
