The documentation on http://code.google.com/apis/gadgets/docs/reference/refers to our OpenSocial 0.8 API. We also support OpenSocial 0.9, see http://igoogledeveloper.blogspot.com/2010/05/osapi-on-igoogle.html for an example.
We do have fewer gadgets using the 0.9 features. The API should work according to the specification at opensocial.org, if you believe you've found a bug in the API when using a gadget on iGoogle, you can file an issue on the public issue tracker http://code.google.com/p/igoogle-developers/wiki/IssuesTab?tm=3 . We're working on updating our documentation but the API should be the same as that published for OpenSocial.
