For the past several years, I've been updating the Free Form Google
Gadget I created about once every 3 weeks, adding newer information to
it (don't laugh -- I also have one that is driven by a feed, but my
readers seem to enjoy this customized one even more).
Starting a few days ago, I went to my iGoogle tab that displayed my
gadget ("Colorado-for-Free"), clicked the "maximize" symbol in the
upper right corner, and clicked the "Update Gadget" link on the
right. Instead of this causing my own Gadget to display in Edit mode,
someone else's Gadget ("Restaurant of the Week") displayed instead!
I've tried this several times over the past 3 or 4 days, and get the
same result each time. This is not good. Not only am I unable to
update my own Gadget, I'm now concerned that some other random Gadget
owner will be able to update my gadget at will.
Has Google discontinued support for these simple, Free Form Gadgets? I
don't see the link on the Gadgets Directory page any longer to "create
your own gadget and share it with friends".
