The iGoogle Gadgets API is still in Labs (see
http://code.google.com/labs/for details) so it's possible that the
feature you used is no longer
available. What you're describing sounds a little bit like the wizards which
used to be available for building gadgets. If that's the case, they aren't
around any more but you can write code to build gadgets of your own using
the current Gadgets API.
