Greets folks. I'm new to this hole google gadget thing. I need to make a decently sophisticated gadget. I'm going to need a better starting point than most of the simple samples provide.
First of all, the sample code for gadgets intended to run on iGoogle dashboard differs from the ones demonstrated to work with the google desktop. The XML is different. The dashboard ones have a module xml node where as the desktop ones have a view node in the main xml file. The description states the desktop apps should work on a number of platforms including the eye goog dashboard. Is this true? Should I bother with the dashboard module tutorials or just focus on the desktop ones then? What's the difference really? Anyway, I saw the google mail gadget. It has a log in screen. How do the google gadgets do to this sort of authentication? I'm going to have to go through our SQL membership provider that our main web page application goes through for authentication so that not anybody can use the tool. I'm going to need to do a bunch of database calls for data using our web services API. Are there any good tutorials for this sort of thing? I only see tutorials for games or how to display text on a UI and splin it... i dunno. Cheers. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "iGoogle Developer Forum" group. To post to this group, send email to [email protected].
