Do calendar sidebar gadgets make use of the user preferences section in the gadget definition? I have been trying to create a sidebar gadget that requests some initial information from the user when the gadget is first installed, but nothing is ever displayed and the gadget is installed with the user preference defaults. The same gadget when installed in sites works just fine and prompts the user for the required information. Having the gadget store some configuration information simplifies things quite a bit.
