Hello, A recent ongoing issue with Adsense ads not showing in gadgets surfaced a need for clarification of iGoogle program policy on advertising.
According to http://code.google.com/intl/en/apis/igoogle/programpolicy.html "Advertising ... is allowed in the canvas view ... is not allowed in any other gadget view (home, default, and any unnamed views)" and also "Exceptions include: Simple text sponsorships." iGoogle developers would like to hear an answer from Google to the following two questions: Question 1: Are 234x60 half-banner Adsense text ads considered to be exception? (are they simple text sponsorships?) Question 2: If no, what is the reason for not supporting iGoogle developers and not getting a portion of Adsense revenue for the company? Allowing ads in the default view seems to be a win/win for Google (who gets a portion of adsense revenue) and iGoogle developers. Canvas view is much closer to a regular webpage, which one can do without iGoogle platform. Default view allows to do really small web applications, and having a way to monetize that type of apps (Google could even offer a special format of adsense unit for that) would be a win for everybody.
