Let me elaborate the same...

Check whether user logged-in or not.
If not logged-in, create a cookie named "MyGadgetNotLoggedInUser"
with GadgetPrefs JSON value in string format.
If a user has logged-in and he is a first time visitor for the gadget, then
read cookie value "MyGadgetNotLoggedInUser", if exists set this
as  GadgetPrefs value for the logged in user and destroy the cookie.
