Check out Simone's https://github.com/99soft/lifegycle which is a small guice lifecycle lib.
I wrote a lifegycle adapter for the standard annotations: https://github.com/mwanji/lifegycle-jx It's not released to Maven, but it's super-simple, essentially a half-dozen lines of code.
