More on terrible YouTube changes
I don't fully understand the scope of these anti-user, anti-creator
changes on #YouTube that #Google has made, but here is more I've
noticed since my first report on this yesterday:
The (up until now excellent) YouTube Movies & TV channel appears to
(for now) be behaving the same way as usual on desktop, as a
subscribed channel with full seek capability on the videos. However,
on the TV interface (at least the current "test" I'm told I'm seeing)
seek on movies (and TV shows) is completely disabled -- you can only
fast forward and rewind -- you can no longer click directly to a given
spot on the timeline. Also, it's not actually showing up as a
subscribed channel now, and is simply named "YouTube Movies". The lack
of direct seek capability is EXTREMELY annoying and anti-user.
I'm still attempting to track down all of these changes and determine
to what extent they may or may not eventually become part of the
standard YouTube user experience on TV and on desktop (and phones,
etc.) rather than just as this awful test. As the saying goes, Please
Stand By. -L
