Google's business plan -- drive away their most loyal users?

I mostly watch YouTube on my TV. I watch it a lot. I subscribe to
YouTube Premium to kill the ads and support creators. With the new
change Google has made, it is literally taking me an order of
magnitude longer to use YouTube on my Chromecast with Google TV --
every time.

I have a set of common searches I do to find technical and other
videos of interest. Until today, that list was present under the TV
YouTube interface Search element. I could then just click on the
search I wanted to do again (some of which are long and complicated
search strings).

Now, Google has replaced the user search history with a banal list of
"hot, trending topics" -- almost all gobbledygook sports related. Jake
Paul at the top -- someone I care about not at all.

Now I have to retype those searches every damned time. Luckily for me
I have a keyboard interfaced (from my old Logitech Revue -- the
original Google TV -- the keyboard is still going strong!) and don't
have to go plodding around an alphabetic matrix like most users would.
Still awful.

This is a slap in the face of users, especially users paying for YT
Premium -- and it ain't cheap!

This one's really hitting a nerve. It's as if Google is bending over
backwards to drive off their most loyal users. Quite a business plan
you've got there, Sundar.
