As the flooding continues, everything but landlines fail

As always, the first infrastructures to fail in the flooding from the
hurricane are power, cell service, and Internet. Traditional landlines -- which AT&T and others continue trying to kill and most people have been seduced into dropping -- are the most reliable since they're
powered centrally from the central offices that have major backup
power. It's this way in pretty much every disaster situation. It's not
rocket science. -L
