The rise and horrific fall of the U.S. Digital Service (now DOGE):
From savior to evil
It's worth noting -- many of you may not realize this -- but the U.S.
Digital Service (which is now Musk's Big Balls Pretty Boys DOGE) began
in 2014 with its first administrator being Mikey Dickerson who left
Google to help fix the problems at the healthcare.gov site for
ACA/Obamacare. He was appointed to his position by President Obama.
Later, ex-Googler Matt Cutts -- one of my favorite people on this
planet -- took on the same role from 2017 into 2021.
The USDS did amazing work, and clearly contributed to vast numbers of
persons getting healthcare who otherwise wouldn't have had it.
And now, at the hands of fascists like Trump and Musk, USDS has been
turned into DOGE, a democracy destroying instrument of cruelty
and evil.
If I had presented a plot treatment of this story to any of
the studios here in L.A., I would have been shown the gate promptly
for wasting their time with an utterly unbelievable concept.
So very sad.
