Another nail in Google's coffin: Google is breaking Google Home and
Assistant by forcing migration to misinformation-spewing and
self-censoring Gemini AI
Google Assistant (whether on a phone or Home/Nest device) when asked a
fact question will usually try to answer it and -- notably -- tell you
from what site it got the answer. Basically like the top of results
answers for ordinary search queries when they are not AI Overviews.
Google is now in the process of forcing everyone into the
disinformation train wreck that is Gemini. This means not only that
Home devices will soon stop providing sources for an answer when they
answer (obtained from a single Web site, so you can judge whether it
is a reputable source or not), but soon will replace this with its
unreliable, often partly or completely wrong, misleading and sometimes
dangerous garbage responses. There are some indications that Gemini is
now answering some politically oriented questions that until now it
has flatly refused to answer (like "Who won the 2020 election?" or
"Who is Joe Biden?") On the other hand, there are many reports that
Gemini seriously messes up Assistant commands and routines for
Home/Nest device control, etc.
Basically, another nail in Google's coffin. And a big one.
