In Picasa 2.7 and 3.0 we have "Tuning" with "Highlights" and "Shadows". The light areas can be made brighter and the dark areas can be made darker. Quite unuseful.
Why not put all the regulator in the middle just like "Color temperature". Then we will be able to lighten shadows and darken highlights.
