I have the same issue. Have you had any luck?

I can't add a network folder to be watched by picasa. Even if I mount
the folder it will not appear ether in the Import folder or Folder
Manager. It is only the system HD that is visible (the dvd isn't
visible or my second drive). I'm using Picasa 3 (build 57.4402, 0) for
Linux on Ubuntu 8.10.

As an example I would like to add folder that is shared by Samba
(smb://192.168.0.1/pictures)
