Group member djmoore reported this condition in 2008 on Ubuntu 8.10. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and seeing the same thing with Picasa 3.0.0. Since djmoore got no posted response then, I thought I would try again now.
When one begins to enter a tag in the entry box, after the first letter, a drop down box appears with all the tags that begin with that letter. That would be OK were it not for the fact that it's impossible to keep typing in the tag entry box until one clicks the mouse in the entry space. When the second letter is then entered, the drop down list may or may not change depending on the tags you've already used, but once again, you can not continue typing until you again click the mouse in the entry box. This makes it nearly impossible to enter tags quickly, as I was accustomed to doing in a previous version of Picasa. Does anyone know of a solution or a work-around? Thanks, -- Damon
