I'm very interested on to get the movies support fully working on my Picasa for Linux. Once the Linux and Windows versions are notably the same, I've tried some setups of Wine (with/without WMP, with/without codecs pack, etc.) and the result is less than "tolerable", to be pleasant :-) I need to know more about how exactly the Picasa load the videos (It uses WMP? It does use of the VFW? It uses directly the ActiveX codecs?). Depending on the answer, we could do an "adapter" on Wine, imitating the behaviour of the ActiveX with the GStreamer codecs, for example. Are the Google guys working on it?
