I have an odd situation with a machine that I support, where a
particular folder of photos has been added, resulting in all of the
colours becoming inverted.

This has not happened previously with other additions and the photos
look perfectly OK when viewed outside of Picasa. We have tried
deleting the folder and recreating it from a back-up on CD, but the
same thing happens when we add this back into Picasa.

The machine runs Ubuntu 9.10 and appears to be working fine in all
other respects.

I'm completely baffled by this. Has anyone else got ideas on what
might be causing the problem?
