I've just checked using Picasa 3.1.0 (Version 70.8108, 0) for Linux on my 64-bit Ubuntu Lucid box, and to my great surprise and distress, captions which I previously had entered in Chinese and Japanese, respectively, have been replaced by question marks. Nor can I use SCIM to enter these glyphs ; when I try I simply get the corresponding Roman letters. However, I was able to *paste* the appropriate glyphs in, and after closing and then re-opening Picasa, they remain, i e, no question marks ! I had the same trouble using SCIM to upload photos to a new album on my web albums, but again, if I pasted in the corresponding glyphs, they displayed as they should. Nor is it simply a matter of ASCII code, as I have no problem with such non-ASCII symbols as the Swedish letters «å», «ä», and «ö». I don't know what application Dimitry is using to try to enter what I presume are Cyrillic letters into new web album titles, but in my case, the problem seems to be that Picasa is not recognising SCIM.
