Hi Yariv- We are still unable to provide the high-resolution Israel data in the API. The data provider contracts do not allow it at this time. We are working quite hard to try to remedy the issue -- as we would love to see what Israeli developers create with our maps--, but legal matters unfortunately take time.
I would suggest using OpenStreetMap tiles (either in our API or another API) for the time being; as they seem to be fairly high-resolution. - pamela On Sat, Jun 6, 2009 at 8:55 PM, yariv gilad<[email protected]> wrote: > > Hi Pamela and everyone > > After a long wait i find it relevant to re-open again the following > question: > > is there any update by now concerning the Street data availability in > the google maps API for flash, in Israel ? > is there any visible future that would enable the use of Google maps > api to build map based flash applications for local data in Israel? > > if there isn't, as was the case last i checked, > I'd appreciate it if you can give the local developers community > any kind of lead for promoting your technology rather then having us > simply wait. > > if you can be so kind to explain where is the bottleneck > is it a technical issue, or a business relations matter with the local > data provider > as i believe we are very capable in assisting, and share common > interests. > > we love your technologies and tools > and want to find a way to move it forward in our region, > matching the innovative image Google projects in Developers Events > throughout the world > and here in Israel > matching Google statements towards the developers community, asking > for our involvement in your projects > we would appreciate some kind of road map concerning the Maps API > availability in Israel > > if you believe there isn't a way you can benefit from the cooperation > of the local developers community > and you claim it to be Google's internal affair, let me conclude by > explicitly saying the following: > > we can't use Google maps in any project we develop for the local > market > as long as there isn't a coverage of the streets as is the case in any > normal place. > it is a basic legitimate requirement, i believe it is waiting and > pending long enough time > for any possible creative solution to surface, be the reason what it > may be. > > please find a way to promote it, or come up with a reference point we > can relate to, and help you promote it > > thank you for your time > Yariv Gilad > Tel Aviv, Israel > > > --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Google Maps API For Flash" group.
