If I understand you correctly, you are looking to prevent people from the names of locations on a map that would normally be on a map? FIRST I would recommend you check Google's terms of service to see if you are allowed to do this.
IFF (if and only if) that is allowed, your easiest solution would be a small overlay on that name. Granted that will hide any other information which is behind said name. You can't just "remove" a name and dot from the GUI map. Perhaps you could provide a little more information.
