Hi all, We just released a new project to help scientist download biodiversity data on mountain areas.
http://www.mountainbiodiversity.org We make use of Google Maps for Flash quite extensively. The main reason to use Flash was the possibility to apply pixel bender filters on tiles. This is the way we change the mask over the map when you move the elevation slider or choose different vegetation types. Th performance of applying a filter to a GroundOverlay.foreground is not that great, so if anybody has any idea how to make this perform better please let me know! If you wanna see a video about it you can find it at: http://vimeo.com/11552863 Finally if someone is interested on the source let me know as this will all get released as Open Source soon. Meanwhile we would really appreciate any feedback. Hope you like it.
