Would there be any reason why this bitmap would slow down map
navigation?
I used a previous icon and modified it. The file size is 48 kb.

Ie swap the two lines to be in this order:
var bm:Bitmap = new fish() as Bitmap;
var markerOptions:MarkerOptions = new MarkerOptions({icon:bm});
Otherwise you'll be passing an invalid asset to the MarkerOptions and
hence will probably get the default.
