Hey Matthias,

If this is consistently reproducible you should probably file a bug report 
for it to be fixed here: http://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/.  Maybe 
to avoid the issue for the time being you could potentially disable the map 
(not sure if this is actually an option) or disable the mouse/keyboard/on 
screen controls before unloading the map.  Don't think a try catch block 
will get this one since the stack for the function call probably doesn't 
include your call to unload (it's subsequent enter frame events that are 
causing the function that throws the error to be triggered).
